Receiving money with Send Money from PayPal
Your Skype contacts can now send you money through Send Money from PayPal. You will receive a Skype alert message when someone sends you cash.
The first time you receive money, you must either log into your PayPal account or sign up for a PayPal account if you don’t have one. Once you claim the payment, the money is deposited into your PayPal account. You can then withdraw the money from your PayPal account to your bank account.
To accept a payment, follow the steps described below.
Incoming payment alert
- System tray alert. When someone sends you money through PayPal an alert message will appear in your system tray (located at the bottom right of your screen). The alert message will disappear after a few minutes. Click the highlighted text to accept the money.
- Event Tab alert. In addition, an alert notification will appear under the Events Tab in the top right corner of Skype. Clicking the message will display information about a received payment. Click the highlighted text to accept the payment.
Follow the guide
A guide will open to take you through the process of accepting the payment. You will see a summary of your pending payment. Click the Get Started button and follow the steps to accept the payment.
First, enter your Skype password which will authenticate you are the person who should receive the payment and click Next.
Log into your PayPal account
You will then pass into the PayPal system to continue the process.
If you have a PayPal account, enter your log in information and click the Log In button.
If you do not have a PayPal account, select the country you live in and click the Sign Up button to begin the sign up process. Please note: you are only able to receive money in countries where PayPal offer this service.
Complete the sign up page and click the Sign Up button. Follow the steps to confirm your email address.
Manage your Send Money payment
Once your account is set up, you can view your payment by logging in to your PayPal account and clicking the History tab.
- Once you have accepted money through Send Money, your Skype account is then linked to your PayPal account. All future Send Money payments to you will automatically be shown on your PayPal account balance.
